11/2007- So...what started as a random string of jokes about what Davy Jones would do with his one day on land has now turned into an on going series that has collected a mini fan group. Here is a brief history for the obsessive sorts that like hind stories. I think it was year 2006-2007-ish I started a comic strip known only to my friends (because I hadn't discovered D.A. yet called "Pirates of the Caribbean, The Last Laugh" about a jolly reporter from the London Post who endeavored to interview the most legendary or unusual people of the decade. (I may eventually post what little I did on this because its hilarious) I got a little ways into it but stopped when I got into digital art and then had the idea for "Davy Jones' Day Off" (DJDO) I was fresh out of high school with only self taught art skills and what my awesome mom taught me, and using a photo editing program that came with a digital camera I learned to color on the computer. The first page alone is evidence of the horribleness of my skills at the time but it was a stepping stone. (This comic strip is like watching a one celled organism evolve into a monkey in terms of art.) It was never in the plan for it to last this long but it all changed when I thought of a random joke that was so irresistible that it required a whole plot just to crack that joke! (page 68) I have the whole thing planned out with all its jokes and epic plotty-ness and even an ending that I think will be awesome and congruous with the movies and its comic sequel that has stolen the name of the 'parent' comic "The Last Laugh" which will be a series of Davy Jones vs Cutler Beckett. SO enjoy this string of madness and...um...DeARR-uh!
